TLE Educational Network Mission

So many have been asking about the philosophy of TLE, it is time to explain what exactly we are doing and why.

The first and foremost function and desire of TLE Educational Network is to function as a study environment in the Virtual World. Though this has been tried before, TLE Educational Network does have a new unique catch. It is the contention, and yet to be totally proven, that Social Networking systems in the virtual world, of which Second Life can be considered one (though not in the normative sense) can offer a positive, popular and educational environment. And all for FREE.

Since this post is on purpose being kept short, we will not enter the specific problems involved in maintaining such an environment. However, the fact remains that the main focal point of TLE Educational Network is to provide free education in any subject that can be taught.

This though, must be coupled with a few other specifics. TLE Educational Network intends to make its reach far beyond Second Life. Indeed at this point in time, with the numbers that Second Life is showing, it would be suicide to limit one's vision to Second Life. Please bear in mind that while Second Life lays claim to 13 million members of which only 70,000 can possibly be on the grid at any one given time, Social networks like Facebook lays claim to 145 million members of which 7 million are on the grid at any given time.

This makes the goals of TLE Educational Network a bit different then other builds within Second Life and also the focus of TLE Educational Network is totally different. Therefore the decisions on builds, places, parcels and the like are all affected by such goals.

TLE Educational Network is NOT looking to provide entertainment where the purpose becomes the entertainment itself. The purpose of the entertainment is to create "a steady stream of visitors" to TLE Educational Network . It is not our desire to crash a sim by having 100 people come to one event. Indeed in the perspective of TLE Educational Network it is much more important to have those 100 people come in succession at different times. 100 people streaming in at different times, is a much more potent "viral network" then 100 coming to one specific event.

This may answer some questions about TLE Educational Network market carts and TLE Educational Network Mall. These do not make enough money to pay for any sort of tiers. They are there for one purpose. To provide the feel and look, so important in Second Life psychology, of a place that is "used and visited". The ambience is critical here. The psychology of the normative Second Life member must be catered to - up to a point. To the point where you introduce a "new idea" into their perspective.

The goal of TLE Educational Network at this stage, in the parlance of Public Relations is "Name Recognition". We are at a critical stage. TLE Educational Network has succeeded beyond any of the original expectations. However, we must continue to increase "name recognition". Thus we have now a Public Sandbox; A mall; Market Stalls; Artisan Colony; Job & Advertisement Park. And the normal part of TLE Educational Network which is the focal aspect - the Courses and Education.
