Where Knowledge & Education Are Always Free |

Second Life's potential for dramatically improving the ability of real-life people to create a more tolerant, peaceful world forms the foundation of the TLE Interactive World History Museum and TLE Interactive Animal, Zoo, and Marine Biology Museum, free installations produced by TLE Educational Network in Second Life. TLE believes that only by knowing world history and stepping into the shoes of people from the diverse cultures on Earth can individuals develop a better understanding of our world and compassion for all people. No single real-world location or online application provides the opportunity for people anywhere in the world to experience what TLE's World History and Animal, Zoo and Marine Biology museums offer, including: • A multimedia, interactive display of world history presented by an international team of researchers and historians where SL residents can acquire new insights about the Earth's past and present. • Authentic replicas of diverse cultures from all over the world, where people can immerse themselves in fully 3-D experiences that would likely be impossible to have in real life, and thus gain a higher understanding of their global neighbors. • Simulations of authentic wildlife habitats from around the world, with realistic representations of all kinds of species, scripted using artificial intelligence to mimic natural behaviors, allowing residents to observe otherwise inaccessible wildlife up close while learning more about them. • Voluminous information (text, audio, video) about the natural features of Earth and its human history, strategically placed within the extensive builds for the most timely access with just a click of the mouse. • Simulations that present diverse cultures' approaches to a concept (such as religion and war), but gathered into one comprehensive exhibit to encourage a broader, more tolerant perspective of all approaches. • Totally free access to all of the information and simulations at any time, in any location on Earth. These are only a few examples of how the TLE museums' design is aimed at reducing conflict in the world through increasing the understanding and acceptance by all people of their co-inhabitants of Earth. To achieve this goal, TLE Educational Network, a nonprofit organization supported primarily by donations, has utilized the most advanced Second Life technologies and designers to create builds that are highly interactive, realistic, and aesthetically delightful. Some examples include: • Artificial intelligence is used in scripting the animals to ensure realistic behaviors. • SL vehicle technology enables tour "cars" to give residents a thorough visual tour and comprehensive text overview of both museums. • Advanced LL scripting ensures the authenticity of all simulated activity, such as the movement of planets in the planetarium. • Sophisticated communication and teleporting systems make it easy for SL residents to easily learn and move about the museums. • TLE buys components from the best SL designers to ensure extraordinarily beautiful, immersive 3D installations that utilize all the senses available to fully engage and involve participants. Though extensive, TLE Educational Network museums have only been open a few months, with many more exhibits to be researched and installed. Our goals will help all achieve a vision of increasing world harmony and understanding by making free knowledge and education accessible to people worldwide. |
